How teams work together is a driving factor of their success

Research performed by Google discovered that it was not necessarily WHO was on the team that mattered, but how they worked together that eventually led to their success (or failure). In the most successful teams, the leaders and members truly listened to one another, had open discussions, and showed empathy. The term ‘psychological safety’ was referenced to mean that folks on the team felt comfortable to speak their minds, and even to make mistakes, knowing that others on the team would support them if they fell. Other important areas of successful team culture included that team members could depend on each other to complete work, they understood their role and how the team was structured, they found meaning in the work being done, and they saw how their work impacted the end result.
